Client Experiences - Bungalow Booking inside the National Park
“Magical and extraordinary, this was the family trip of a lifetime with the very best, most passionate and talented team. Honestly, don’t hesitate to book.
We spent three days and two nights inside the park in one of the government-owned bungalows with a guide, driver from Wilpattu Safaris, and a ranger from the Department of Wildlife.
We are a family of four, our boys are 10 and 13, and we had planned the trip for months. Every stage of the trip was more than we could have hoped for.
Before we booked, Sachi was brilliant at explaining every detail, and running through our options, patiently answering all our questions. He was prompt and helpful responding to our emails and WhatsApp messages so we always had confidence.
Mahela, our guide, met us at the entrance and introduced us to Gayan (who turned out to be an epic driver and spotter), and Tharindu, the ranger who came with us on our Toyota Hilux.
In our time there we went out six times, at all daylight hours, and saw more than 40 species of birds and animals – including 7 different leopards!
Mahela was kind, passionate and knowledgeable, patiently fielding all our boys’ questions; Gayan was a complete legend!, an incredibly skilful driver, and Tharindu was a reassuring and warm presence. The chef, Gilan, made sure we had delicious food and plenty of tea and coffee.
We slept on beds on the outside balcony under mosquito nets, waking to an incredible view of the lake, deer, langur monkeys and hornbills around the lake – and on our last morning, to a leopard who had come down to the water to drink!
The team was great at taking us to all areas of the park so that we had a peaceful and beautiful time, and take away memories that will last forever.”
